Laser-Engraved Oak Plaques for an "Adopted Riverbank" School Project — Erasmus+ Commemorative Award

Some awards mark a win. Others mark a promise. This one belongs to the second kind — a plaque made to commemorate a school's pledge to look after a stretch of river, and to keep that commitment somewhere it can be seen every day.

We produced a set of laser-engraved solid oak plaques for an Adopted Riverbank environmental project, where the entire design — heading, message, organisation name, partner logos and even a small character illustration — is burned straight into the wood. No print, no inlay: just oak and engraving.

A Plaque for an "Adopted Riverbank" School Initiative

The plaque commemorates a river-stewardship project run by a school as part of the Folyómentő Iskolák ("River-Saver Schools") initiative, supported through Erasmus+. Its engraved message records that the school adopted and cleaned a section of riverbank — and pledged to keep it that way — closing with an open invitation for others to adopt a stretch of river of their own.

That made the brief different from a typical trophy. The object needed to carry a full paragraph of heartfelt text, the project's partner marks, and a warm, human tone — all while feeling permanent enough to match a long-term environmental promise.

Solid Oak, and Nothing but Engraving.

Each plaque is a single piece of solid oak with softly shaped, notched corners that frame the composition. Everything on it is created with laser engraving — the bold headline, the full body message, the organisation name, an engraved decorative border, the Folyómentő Iskolák and Erasmus+ marks, and a small hand-drawn character in the corner.

Working in a single medium is what gives the piece its quiet strength: with no added colour or materials, the design lives entirely in the contrast between the burned lines and the natural oak, and the grain shows through every element. Warm, tactile and understated — exactly right for the subject.
