Custom BBQ Competition Awards & Trophies for FUME London 2026 — Wood, Painted Metal Flame Branding in Three Formats

A live-fire BBQ competition is loud, smoky and full of personality — and the awards handed out at the end have to match that energy. Not a generic trophy, but something that looks like it came straight off the grill: real wood, painted metal, and a flame you can spot from across the room.

For FUME London 2026, we produced a complete custom award programme built around the event's fire branding — three formats in one visual language: a large statement flame trophy, a mid-size version of the same piece, and a set of wall-mounted diploma plaques colour-coded by placing.

01 — The Competition

One Fire-Branded Award Family for Every FUME London Title

FUME London is a BBQ and live-fire cooking competition where recognition runs across several streams — the Competitors' Champion, the People's Champion and the Judges' Champion — each with its own place winners and special honours. The brief was a single, instantly recognisable design that could scale from a head-turning headline trophy down to a wall plaque, without ever losing its identity.

The challenge of a competition programme is range: one look that holds together across an Overall Winner, a Best BBQ Pitmaster, a Best Dish and a Critics' Award — at three different sizes and price points, each still feeling like its own prize.

02 — Design & Materials

Real Wood. Painted Metal. One Flame.

Every piece in the programme is built from the same two materials. The structure is wood — warm, solid and grounded — and the branding is painted metal: the FUME wordmark and the signature flame are cut from metal, colour-finished, and fixed onto the wood, adding real depth and shine to the surface.

That metal is also where the placing is coded. Across the diploma plaques, the flame and lettering are painted in three finishes — gold, silver and copper — one for each podium position, so a winner's rank is readable at a glance before a single word is.

The wording is handled two ways depending on the format: laser-engraved straight into the natural grain on the large trophies, and white UV print on the diploma plaques, where the crisp type sits cleanly against the wood beside the metal flame.

03 — Three Formats

From a 60 cm Statement Trophy to a Wall Diploma

The same design language scales across three tiers, so the organisers could match the format to the weight of each honour — and to budget — without breaking the look of the ceremony.

01 — Large Flame Trophy · ~60 cm

The headline award: a tall flame-shaped wooden piece with laser-engraved details, a painted-metal flame, and a metal side panel carrying the FUME logo. A genuine statement object for the top titles.

02 — Mid Flame Trophy · ~45 cm

The same trophy, scaled down — identical construction and finish in a more compact height for secondary podium and category winners.

03 — Diploma Plaque · wall-mounted

A wooden plaque with a wall fixing, painted-metal flame and metal FUME lettering in gold, silver or copper by placing, with the award text in white UV print.

The placing colours on the plaques follow the podium:

  • Gold 1st place — winners & overall champions
  • Silver 2nd place — runners-up
  • Copper 3rd place — third-place honours

The Result

A Whole Ceremony, One Coherent Look

The finished programme gives FUME London a complete awards line that's unmistakably its own: wood and fire branding tying every title together, while the gold–silver–copper metal and individual names make each award specific to its winner. One design language, scaled from a wall plaque to a 60 cm trophy.

A Two-Year Partnership

Four Projects, and Counting

This is the fourth award project we've produced for this client over a two-year collaboration — and that continuity is its own kind of reward. Returning to the same team means we already know their brand, their standards and the level of finish they expect, which lets each new set build on the last. Thank you for the ongoing trust; we're proud to keep the fire going with you.
